The Retreat

WILD Retreat is part of Kangaroo Islands fire recovery story, regrettably the original house burnt down during the 2019/20 Black Summer fires. Two years later we are blessed to have WILD recently completed by talented local builder Nathan Guidera – NRG Building.
Self-Catering: as the property is set up for self-catering and relatively secluded, we advise purchasing groceries either on the mainland, Kingscote or Penneshaw. The Vivonne Bay General store is very handy being only 2km from the retreat. Great for takeaway and general provisions including fuel, beer and wine.
All 3 bedrooms are well proportioned with built in robes, 2 of the bedrooms have king beds and the third bedroom two king singles. There is one large luxury bathroom and 2 WC’s. A wood fire burner, air conditioner and fans are sure to keep you comfortable all year round.
The retreat contains an internal laundry with washer and dryer. There is Self-check-in with Key Safe making guest check-in less stressful and private. In addition, our property manager Warren and his wife Thuy live locally and can provide assistance during your stay. Delicious picnic boxes and mezze platters are available on request. Wild Retreat can cater for 6 guests.

House Rules
House Rules are provided at the Property (WILD Retreat) to ensure that Guests and Visitors know and comply with the specific Rules governing their permission to enter and occupy the Property.
- Check-in time 2pm and Check-out 10am with a 2-night minimum stay. If there are no guests the next day late check-out to 12pm may be permitted at the discretion of the Manager.
- WILD is not a “party house” and any such activities are strictly prohibited.
- NO PETS are allowed. Wild is located in a State Conservation park; being a safe refuge for native Australian animals and plants.
- Smoking inside is PROHIBITED. A $250 fine for either and immediate departure for both pets and smoking indoors.
- No Candles or open flame sources inside or outside.
- No outdoor fires except using the fire pit provided.
- On Departure the house should be left how you found it, all rubbish should be picked up of the floor, benches & side tables and placed in bins provided. All bags of rubbish put in outside bins sorted accordingly into Green Waste, General Waste and Recycled waste.
- Return all furniture to its original position.
- Turn off all lights, fans, air-conditioning and heating.
- Close and lock all windows, doors & return keys to the lock box.
- Extra charges will apply if these conditions are not adhered to.
- Breach of these House Rules is a breach of the Terms and Conditions of occupancy. The Owner and Manager reserve the right to terminate permission to occupy and to evict from the Property, Guests or Visitors who refuse to follow these House Rules or who cause a nuisance.

Frequently asked questions
Wild Retreat uses Stripe software. Stripe allows safe and efficient processing of funds via credit card or bank and transfers. Stripe has been audited by a PCI-certified auditor and is certified to PCI Service Provider Level 1. This is the most stringent level of certification available in the payments industry. To accomplish this, Stripe uses the best-in-class security tools and practices to maintain a high level of security at Stripe.
No Children (ages 2-12 years) will continue to be counted and charged in the same way adults are.
Sorry, there are no babysitting services available in Vivonne Bay.

Cancellation Policy:
Full refund for cancellations made within 48 hours of booking if check-in date is at least 14 days away. 50% refund for cancellations made at least 7 days before check-in. No refunds for cancellations within 7 days of check-in except in event of verifiable covid related travel restrictions.
There are two ways:
- Take a domestic flight from Adelaide either using Rex or QantasLink, 20 minute flight. Flights run daily.
- Catch a SeaLink Ferry from Cape Jervis, SA to Penneshaw SeaLink Kangaroo Island’s vehicle and passenger ferry service operates daily (except Christmas Day) between Cape Jervis (two hours south of Adelaide) and Penneshaw, Kangaroo Island. SeaLink operates two large, modern vehicle and passenger ferries, SeaLion 2000 and Spirit of Kangaroo Island, with the journey taking just 45 minutes for the 16km crossing.There is no public transport on the island so must either Self-drive or fly to Kingscote and hire a car Car Hire from Penneshaw or Kingscote Airport *book ahead

- From SeaLink Ferry Terminal, Penneshaw to Wild Retreat Vivonne Bay takes 1hour 15 minutes
- Kingscote Airport to Wild Retreat Vivonne Bay - 30 minutes

Groceries: Penneshaw and Kingscote have well stocked supermarkets IGA and Drakes. Vivonne Bay General Store has basic provisions including beer and wine.
